This painting captures a quiet moment at home in Morgex, in the Aosta Valley, after a day skiing in Courmayeur.

One winter afternoon I noticed my youngest son relaxing on the sofa with our black Labrador Ozzy, waiting for dinner after skiing. The cozy corner of our home — with soft furnishings, rustic decor and old wooden skis hanging on the wall — felt like the perfect scene to paint.

I loved the warmth of the interior light, the textures of the textiles and wood, and the calm atmosphere that often settles in an Alpine home after a day in the mountains.

The painting is done in oil on board, using expressive brushwork to capture the light, colour and intimacy of that moment.

This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork.

Painted from life in our home in Morgex, Aosta Valley, this piece reflects the quiet domestic side of ski holidays in the Alps — the warm interiors, family moments and simple rituals after a day on the mountain.
