🌤 Landscape Study After John Blockley

This piece is a personal study created on A2 watercolour paper, inspired by a landscape from the work of artist John Blockley, whose atmospheric compositions and bold, textural mark-making are unmistakable.

Rather than copying directly, I allowed myself to work more freely — responding to the landscape, the shapes, and the emotional weight of the scene. Using a combination of watercolour and expressive ink lines, I explored Blockley’s way of building mood through layered washes, contrasting textures, and unexpected colour transitions.

The dark, stormy sky creates a dramatic backdrop for the quiet cluster of houses perched on the horizon, while the foreground bursts with earthy tones, organic patterns, and gestural ink marks. The result is a piece that balances structure and spontaneity, echoing Blockley’s language but filtered through my own interpretation and intuition.

As a study, this work focuses on learning through experimentation — an opportunity to push into new territory while honouring a master artist’s approach. It is offered at a study price, making it ideal for collectors who appreciate expressive landscapes and mixed-media work.

I am doing all shipping from the UK, unless specified. I can do from Italy sometimes, when it is for Italian addresses only. This needs to be coordinated.

International orders: Upon buying my artwork, prints, cards or homeware,  you are liable for any import duty applicable in your country.

I ship internationally via courier, to have a tracking number so I make sure the items arrive to your home.
