Sit Ski and the Guide is an original painting in oils on canvas board, created as a commission for Disability UK.
The painting brings together a sit-skier and their guide in a snowy mountain setting, surrounded by evergreen trees and distant white peaks. Warm peach and golden tones fill the sky and touch the snow, while long blue shadows stretch across the foreground.
At the heart of the composition are the two people sharing the mountain experience. The bright colours of their clothing stand out against the winter landscape, drawing the eye towards them and the sit-ski.
For me, this painting celebrates the joy of being in the mountains together: the freedom of skiing, the connection between a skier and their guide, and the shared experiences that make a day on the snow memorable.
The contrast between the warm light and cool snow gives the scene a welcoming atmosphere, capturing a moment to remember beyond the ski slopes.
