My last painting as a triptych. End of the Ski Day in Val Veny, Courmayeur

I have finished my triptych of my family coming to the end of a ski day in Courmayeur Mont Blanc. It is pretty empty, because we were late, and we were on the Val Veny side, that is not so visited by skiers as the front of the mountain.

I've used two side panels to the main part of the painting, as I wanted to show the whole area. I will now go to frame it all together. I really enjoyed doing this picture, as it reminds me of a happy place and doing what I love the most, that is skiing and being in the mountains.

At the moment, we were racing to get back to the funicular, but we were questioning ourselves if we could go for a cheeky cake and hot chocolate at Prè-de-Pascal, a restaurant near where the funicular of Courmayeur arrives to go back into town. 

I used soft pastels of Sennelier, Unison Colour and Rembrandts, and Faber Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils and Caran d'Ache pastel pencils. This was done on top of La Carte Pastel, a paper from Sennelier, that has lots of teeth- it is like a sandpaper! This is great for soft pastels, as it catches the pigments and is great to smudge lots of colours together.
