A quick introduction to whom am I

I just wanted to introduce myself for my new followers. I am a bit of a busy body person that likes doing lots of things, that has been in love with the mountains since I went the first time when I was fourteen, to Bariloche, in my native Argentina.

I have managed to work in the ski business since I was fifteen, firstly selling ski trips, then working at ski resorts (Crested Butte, Aspen, Bariloche, Las Leñas, Portillo and Vail) and now working for the largest and longest-standing ski travel industry b-2-b event in the world, which has allowed me to visit many mountains in the world. I am lucky enough to be able to work from home (as the company I work for is American), and be around my kids while they grow up, my husband and black lab Ozzy.

Around ten years ago I started painting, just after taking some lessons at the Blackheath Conservatoire. Most of what I’ve learnt was by asking fellow painters how they did it themselves. I have specialised in painting mountains and mountain landscapes and scenes with pastels. This year I had the urge to start learning new mediums, without tuition.  Now I am learning oils, acrylics and watercolours!

Not taking lessons has its good and bad aspects. My problem is that I have no patience, and I do not want to do the exercises or paint a subject I am not interested in. I want to start painting as if I knew, and I cannot stand finishing the videos I try to watch. This is not great, I know, but that is how I am! I am however, reading lots of different books on techniques every day. Now I am itching to start going more outdoors and paint en plein air. I’ve tried it this summer in glorious locations and loved it. My equipment is not the best, as it is too heavy! Therefore, I’ve bought a new pochade box that is very light with a light tripod and, as soon as I get it, I am planning to get at least once a week to paint outdoors. I still struggle mixing colours, but slowly I am starting not to be afraid to try.
