A new painting of Courmayeur, this time of Youla, the top old cable car lift that takes you up to the top of Youla piste and start of the off-piste from the top of Courmayeur. There is a second cablecar called Arp, that takes you to the top of this skiable domaine.
I love this image, as it reminds me of the feeling of being in high mountain environment. It changes from what you find beneath a lot. It is all above treeline and it shows you as a small spec with the immensity that surrounds you. I wanted to reflect this with the skier getting near the edge.

I've painted this piece with soft pastels of Sennelier and Blue Earth Pastels, Pan pastels and pastel pencils of Caran D'Ache. This was on top La Carte Pastel pastel paper.
