This expressive floral study was created during the Painting Flowers with Different Media course at the Blackheath Conservatoire, taught by artist Sophie Knight.
Working with acrylics and gouache, I explored loose mark-making, bold colour shifts, and the interplay of light across the petals of white roses arranged in a simple glass vase.
The piece captures softness and movement, with broad strokes and subtle transitions that give the flowers a lively, contemporary feel. As this is a study, it embodies freshness, spontaneity and the joy of experimentation.
