Painted during my class with artist Sophie Knight at the Blackheath Conservatoire, this original floral paintingexplores the harmony between watercolour and gouache, two mediums that blend transparency and opacity in expressive ways.
I approached this work as a way of drawing with paint, letting the brush define the shapes and contours of the sunflowers. The composition remains intentionally unfinished, allowing the raw paper and loose lines to speak — a reflection of the flowers’ fleeting beauty as they begin to fade.
This contemporary botanical artwork captures both fragility and vitality, offering a timeless study of nature through texture, light, and emotion. Perfect for collectors who appreciate modern floral still life art with an expressive, painterly touch.
