This commission captures a quiet winter’s day in Val d’Isère, where a little girl in red — Felicity — walks through fresh snow beneath a moody, grey sky. The muted tones of the mountains, almost imperceptible in the distance, add to the atmosphere of stillness and mystery, while the soft pastel strokes bring out the warmth and brightness of her presence against the subdued landscape.
I wanted to balance the fleeting, subdued light of the Alps with the enduring memory of a child’s walk in the snow — a moment where innocence and landscape meet.
